These innovations will be developed to contribute to the following specific technical objectives:

1. Develop novel multistage pilot plants based on DED processes, hybridising AM with previous and subsequent processes for the manufacturing of several certified metal parts:

  • Deploy INTEGRADDE concept in both open-pilots and application-driven pilot lines
  • LMD manufacturing
  • WAAM manufacturing

2. Develop novel data-driven pipeline supporting the design, simulation and production planning for additive manufacturing:

  • Develop novel design for technology (DfX) solutions adapted to AM
  • Develop a modelling and simulation system assisting in product design
  • Develop CAx technologies supporting production planning for AM
  • Develop a cybersecured digital thread for fully IP protection along the entire AM chain

3. Implement a Quality-by-Design (QbD) manufacturing strategy, based on real-time control systems, inline quality control systems, and minimised consumption of raw materials:

  • Real-time control algorithms for a zero-defect manufacturing strateg
  • Early detection of defects
  • Cognitive system
  • Data analytics

4. Implement a digital end-to-end engineering concept:

  • Digital Thread
  • Seamless integration from product design to the final manufactured product
  • Physical to digital product transformation
  • Industry 4.0
  • Digital manufacturing

5. Demonstrate INTEGRADDE approach in several pilot lines for the manufacturing of certified metal parts:

  • Integration of reliable external supply chain of feedstock material
  • Hybridization of AM
  • Standardization and product certification
  • Target certified metal parts
